Through a selection of eighty extraordinary works, the exhibition explores the many conceptual horizons of red, inviting visitors to reflect on its scope and emotional depth.
Red is the archetypal color—the first ever produced, reproduced, and interpreted by humankind in multiple shades, first in painting and later in dyeing. Even today, it remains the most powerful and astonishing hue, rich in poetic, dreamlike, and symbolic meaning. Art and fashion converge throughout the exhibition to create a unique language, presenting red not merely as a color but as a living system of ever-evolving horizons.
Valentino Garavani is the only couturier to have created, within his body of work, a sort of opera omnia in red—using this color as a constant point of reference throughout his career, until it became a symbol of his very creative identity. Over fifty years of exploration through fashion, Valentino’s collections have always included a red dress capable of encapsulating the essence of his vision, establishing the color as his unmistakable and unique signature.
Each horizon builds upon the previous one, guiding visitors through the many layers of red: beauty, identity, surface, emotional power, and its connection to the dream world. The further one moves, the more red—of which Valentino is the embodiment—reveals itself not only as an aesthetic choice, but as a transformative force that continues to shape a legacy destined to endure.
